Kingdom Hearts Manga Licensed by Yen Press
Confirmed today at Sakuracon, Yen Press has picked up the license to resume the publication of the Kingdom Hearts manga series in North America! If you remember, Tokyopop had published Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 and Chain of Memories before ending in 2008.
Here’s what Anime News Network had to say about the KH Manga:
“Illustrator Shiro Amano has created manga adaptations for Square Enix‘s Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts II, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days games. North American publisherTokyopop released all four volumes of Kingdom Hearts, both volumes of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and two volumes of Kingdom Hearts II before the company shut down its North American publishing division in 2011.
Amano resumed the Kingdom Hearts II manga last year after he put it on hiatus to move on to Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Square Enixplans to publish the sixth volume of Kingdom Hearts II in May. Right before Amano resumed Kingdom Hearts II, he ended the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days manga at five volumes.
Yen Press‘ release of Kingdom Hearts manga will be the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix version. Yen Press will release Kingdom Hearts Final Mix as two omnibus volumes starting in May 2014, and will release Chain of Memories as a one-volume omnibus in June 2014. Yen Press also confirmed with ANN that it also has the rights to Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. Yen Press will begin releasing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days in November 2013, marking the first time the manga will be published in North America.”
So look forward to Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days in November of this year!
